Team Rocket Deck — Standard 2026 (All-Rocket Deck List & Guide)

Themed
Standard 2026 (Regulation H / I / J)
~$40–$60 in singles
Intermediate

Format: Standard 2026 (Regulation Marks H / I / J) Archetype cost: roughly $40–$60 in singles Difficulty: Intermediate — a real deck with an evolution engine, wrapped in a full Team Rocket identity

This is the deck for anyone who ever wanted to actually run Team Rocket. It's built almost entirely from the Destined Rivals Team Rocket cards — Mewtwo ex, Persian ex, Giovanni, Meowth, and the rest of the crew — around a core that has real tournament results behind it. You get the theme AND a deck that wins games, not one or the other.

Its attacking core (Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex + Team Rocket's Spidops) is tournament-proven — it made Day 2 at NAIC 2026. The rest of the list leans all the way into the flavor.

Why This Deck Is All Team Rocket

This is the draw. The list is ~95% Team Rocket cards — the only non-Rocket slots are a handful of neutral search-and-recovery staples (Ultra Ball, Buddy-Buddy Poffin, Boss's Orders, Night Stretcher) that every deck plays. Everything that defines the deck is on-brand:

  • Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex — a 280 HP Psychic attacker and the face of the deck.
  • Team Rocket's Persian ex (via Meowth) — the crew's slick secondary threat.
  • Giovanni, Ariana, Proton, Petrel — the actual Team Rocket admins, running your whole Trainer engine.
  • Team Rocket's Factory & Watchtower — Rocket-flavored Stadiums.
  • Team Rocket's Energy — even your Energy is on theme.

If you want to go fully purist you can, but the two ex Pokémon (Mewtwo ex, Persian ex) are what make the deck competitive. That's the one honest tradeoff to know about — see the prize note below.

How to Play It

The engine is straightforward: Proton sets you up on turn one, Ariana and Transceiver keep the Rocket Supporters flowing, and Team Rocket's Spidops provides the Ability support that lets the deck run smoothly. Attack with Mewtwo ex, use Giovanni or Boss's Orders to drag up whatever you most want to knock out, and lean on Persian ex as your second threat when Mewtwo needs a break.

Prize note — you're running ex Pokémon. Both Mewtwo ex and Persian ex give up two Prize cards when they're knocked out (instead of one). That's the price of their power — play around it by not over-committing ex attackers you don't need on the board yet.

What to Buy (and What NOT to Buy)

You do not need the expensive alternate arts to play this deck. Buy the cheap, fully-legal playable prints:

  • Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex — DRI 81 (the Double Rare, roughly $1.56), not the Special Illustration Rare DRI 231 (~$559). Same card in play, a fraction of the price.
  • The same logic applies to Persian ex and the rest — grab the base Double Rare / standard prints, not the alt-art chase versions.
