Delphox is the "build up and unleash" deck. You spend the early turns getting set up — evolving your Fennekin, drawing extra cards with an Ability, and loading Fire Energy onto the board — and then Delphox hits harder and harder the longer the game goes. It's a great first deck because every turn has an obvious next step, and there's no complicated attack math to memorize.

This is one half of the Fire vs. Fighting Battle Box — two decks built to be played against each other so two new players can learn the game together. It also stands completely on its own.

What This Deck Teaches You

Instead of "matchups," here's what you'll actually learn by playing Delphox — the fundamentals every Pokémon deck relies on:

• Evolving. You start with Fennekin (a Basic), then play Braixen on top of it, then Delphox on top of that. Watching a tiny Basic grow into a powerful Stage 2 is the core loop of the whole game.
• Using an Ability. Delphox's Ability, Flaring Magic, lets you discard a Fire Energy to draw until you have 7 cards. Abilities are "free" effects that don't cost your attack for the turn — learning to use one every turn is a huge step up.
• Scaling damage. Delphox's attack, Energized Storm, does 30 damage for each Energy in play. The more you build up, the harder you hit — so you learn why setup matters instead of just attacking on turn one.

Your First Few Turns

A forgiving, plain-language game plan. You don't have to do this perfectly — just follow the steps.

1. Get Fennekin down. Put at least one Fennekin on your Bench (and one Active if you can). Use Buddy-Buddy Poffin or Poké Ball if you need to find them.
2. Attach a Fire Energy every turn. You get one Energy attachment per turn — never skip it. Getting Energy onto the board early is what powers Delphox later.
3. Evolve when you can. Fennekin → Braixen → Delphox. There's no rush and no penalty for taking your time.
4. Once Delphox is out, use Flaring Magic first. Discard one Fire Energy, draw up to 7 cards. Do this before you attack — it refills your hand for free.
5. Then attack with Energized Storm. Count the Energy in play, multiply by 30, and enjoy watching the number climb as the game goes on.
6. Heal if you're getting low. A Potion at the right moment can buy you the extra turn you need to knock out their Pokémon first.

How to Play It

Delphox rewards patience. If your opening hand is a little slow, that's okay — this deck is built to catch up. Lean on Naveen, Judge, Poké Pad, and Delphox's own Ability to keep drawing cards, and remember that every Fire Energy you attach makes your attack bigger. When you want to close out the game, use Boss's Orders or Pokémon Catcher to drag up the opponent's weakest Pokémon and take a Prize card.
